Q: Where is my filter located?
A:Your filter can be in a few different places and is a hard question to answer without a few key things about your Home that would help shape the correct answer for your HVAC question. Some info that would be helpful is: Is your home on a crawl space or a slab? Are the vents in every room of the home in the floor or ceiling? Do you live in a Modular, Mobile Home or Brick home? Typically you will find a vent that’s centrally located in the house that’s significantly larger than all the rest of the vents. The large vent we refer to as a Return Grille and is usually a filter rack that allows the filter to fit inside it. The returns are generally framed in the ceiling or the floor close by to where your thermostat is located. In mobile home applications this may not be true at all. Mobile Home furnaces have a pre-built in filter rack at the top of the unit where the filter slides into. Keep in mind every furnace is different and may need some light research to figure out where the rack is located in relation to the furnace and whether or not you will need tools to take a door off to access the rack. Advance Heating & Air would be happy to come out and perform a tune up or maintenance on any system you’re unsure of where the filter is and can show you at the time of the Maintenance where the filter(s) are and what size filter to buy.

Q: What size are my filters?
A:There are rules in the sizing of your duct system and tonnage of unit that HVAC professionals follow in designing a filter size for your home. A professional from Advance Heating & Air would need to come out and measure the return(s) to ensure you have the proper size that fits your Air Conditioning unit.

Q: Can you install a thermostat I purchased online?
A:Yes, for a service fee Advance Heating & Air would come and install, setup and program any thermostat provided by the customer. We offer warranties on any brand thermostat the customer purchases from us.

Q: Do you work on Boiler/Hydronic systems, or do you know someone who does?
A: No, Advance Heating & Air does not work on Boilers, Chillers, Water Heaters, Geo-Thermal Systems, Hydronic Systems or Oil Furnaces. A good option to look up who in your area services these type systems would be to call your local utility company i.e. Water Department, Gas Company, or Electric providers and see what contractors they use for your specific specialized equipment.
